A local bookkeeper typically costs $65,000 to $85,000 a year once you add super, leave and the time spent managing them. Since 2010, more than 200 Australian businesses have replaced that line with a university-qualified graduate accountant based in the Philippines, working inside their Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks during Australian business hours, for around half the cost.
In 15 minutes on the phone you get the real numbers for your business, the structure that keeps your accountant in control, and a straight answer on whether it suits you. No pitch and no obligation.
The saving holds at any level of hours. Most businesses sit between 10 and 20 hours a week, and casual help is available with no minimum. Your exact weekly price is worked out on the 15-minute call and confirmed in writing before you start.
Compared with a full-time local bookkeeper on the median wage of $72,800 a year plus 12% super, about $81,536 a year (Jobs and Skills Australia, Bookkeepers), against our rate card as at October 2026. Recruitment, payroll tax, workers compensation, a desk and leave cover add to the local cost. Our prices exclude GST.
Short on purpose. You leave with numbers you can take to your accountant, not a sales deck.
Salary, super, leave, recruitment, and the hours you spend managing the role.
A range for your business based on volume and software, not a headline number.
What your bookkeeper handles every day, and what your accountant still reviews and signs off.
How the daily work keeps your file ATO-ready for the deadlines that now arrive every pay run.
Signed NDA, permission-based software access you control, and a full audit trail in your own file.
Some businesses are better off as they are. If that is you, we say so on the call.
A local bookkeeper charges about $35 to $90 an hour, or costs $65,000 to $85,000 a year as an employee once super and leave are counted. A dedicated FreeMyCloud bookkeeper costs about 50% less than a local employee once super is counted, with the same person inside your software every day.
Hourly bookkeepers in Australia advertise between about $35 and $90 an hour depending on city and qualification. Ours work out at about half the hourly cost of a local employee once super is counted, and the rate falls as the hours rise.
You pay a fixed weekly amount for the hours you choose, from 10 hours a week. It is agreed in writing before you start and stays the same every week, so there are no surprise invoices.
GST is added on top of our fee. Your accountant’s fees stay with your accountant: we prepare, they review and sign off.

The mistake is doing the books late, or not at all, and paying for it in June. Here is where about $8,000 goes in a year of late books for a typical small business.
The ATO charges one penalty unit for every 28 days a statement is late, up to five units. A penalty unit is $364 from 1 July 2026, so one late BAS can cost up to $1,820, and two late quarters $3,640. Interest on the late payment is charged on top and is no longer tax deductible.
Books that arrive unreconciled take an accountant 10 to 20 hours to repair at year end, at $250 to $350 an hour. That is $2,500 to $7,000 on the invoice as “bookkeeping adjustments”, every year it happens.
Receipts that are not entered are credits not claimed, and a year of guessing at the margin costs more than any invoice. Two late quarters and a mid-range catch-up alone add up to about $8,000.

A $45 an hour bookkeeper who takes 12 hours to do 8 hours of work costs more than one at half the rate who does it in 8. Ask what a month costs, not an hour.
Books done once a month mean a month of unanswered questions and a BAS done in a rush. Daily is the standard we work to.
Ask what the first month costs if your books are behind. We tell you on the 15-minute call, before you decide.
So does ours. Your registered agent lodges. The difference is that we say so up front.
The question is not where the person sits but whether you know their name, their hours and their manager.
Most accountants would rather the daily books were done by someone else. Ask yours. Then ask them to review ours.

It is as safe as the arrangement around it. Here is the arrangement around a FreeMyCloud bookkeeper.
Your bookkeeper is a university-qualified accounting graduate employed by FreeMyCloud, working from our office in Ortigas Center, Manila, not a freelancer at home. You know their name and their manager.
They work inside your Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks under a login you control and can switch off. Nothing is copied out. A signed NDA is standard before any access.
Your bookkeeper works your business hours and is managed from Melbourne. Your accountant still reviews and signs off: we are not a BAS or tax agent and never lodge on your behalf.
