FreeMyCloud provides bookkeeping to Brisbane businesses from the Brisbane CBD, Fortitude Valley, the northside, the southside and across South East Queensland. The work is done remotely: a university-qualified graduate accountant, employed by FreeMyCloud and based in our Manila office, works inside your own Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or Reckon file during QLD business hours. Typically 50 to 70% less than a local equivalent, no lock-in contract, no setup fee.
The short answer
Checked against Queensland Revenue Office, Rates and threshold, the Fair Work Ombudsman and the ATO on 1 October 2026. The payroll tax, public holiday and super figures below come from those pages, linked beside each one.
Everything a bookkeeper in Brisbane would do, without the desk. Your dedicated accountant codes the bank feed, reconciles bank, card and merchant accounts, enters supplier bills, sends invoices and follows up the overdue ones, prepares each pay run with its Single Touch Payroll report and super payment for your approval, closes the month, and prepares the BAS figures and workpapers your registered BAS or tax agent reviews and lodges.
There is no FreeMyCloud office in Brisbane. We say that plainly because it is the reason the price is lower, and because it rarely matters: a bookkeeper who logs in to your cloud accounting file does the same work from Manila as from the Brisbane CBD. If your books live on paper, or someone needs to count cash on site, a local bookkeeper will suit you better.
FreeMyCloud is Australian owned, founded in 2010, with offices in Melbourne and Manila. We work with Brisbane businesses from individual operators to companies with payroll tax obligations, in the industries listed below.
QLD rules
Most bookkeeping rules are national: GST, BAS, Single Touch Payroll and super guarantee are the same in Brisbane as in Melbourne. Two things are not: payroll tax, which is a state tax, and the public holidays that drive penalty rates and the super due date count.
| Item | What applies in Queensland | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Payroll tax threshold | $1,300,000 of annual Australian taxable wages | Queensland Revenue Office, Rates and threshold, updated 3 July 2026 |
| Payroll tax rate | 4.75% on Australian taxable wages up to $6.5 million a year, 4.95% above that | Same source |
| Monthly threshold | worked out from the $1.3 million annual threshold | Same source |
| Other points | Businesses with $1.3 million or less in wages may still need to register. Regional employers can qualify for a discount, and a mental health levy applies above $10 million. | Same source |
| Public holidays that affect penalty rates and super due dates, July 2026 to June 2027 | Wednesday 12 August 2026, Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane area only); Monday 5 October 2026, King’s Birthday; Thursday 24 December 2026 from 6 pm, Christmas Eve part-day holiday; Friday 25 December 2026, Christmas Day; Monday 28 December 2026, Boxing Day holiday; Friday 1 January 2027, New Year’s Day; Tuesday 26 January 2027, Australia Day; Friday 26 March to Monday 29 March 2027, Easter; Monday 26 April 2027, Anzac Day holiday; Monday 3 May 2027, Labour Day | Fair Work Ombudsman, 2026 public holidays and 2027 public holidays |
| Super guarantee due date | Received by the fund within 7 business days of payday; whole-of-state public holidays anywhere in Australia do not count as business days | ATO, Payment deadlines for Payday Super, updated 29 September 2026 |
| GST registration | Required once turnover reaches $75,000 ($150,000 for not-for-profits) | ATO, Registering for GST |
| Long service leave | Long service leave in Queensland is governed by the Industrial Relations Act 2016 (Qld), with portable schemes for building and construction (QLeave) and other industries. | Fair Work Ombudsman, Long service leave (links to the Queensland rules) |
Figures as at 1 October 2026. Your registered BAS or tax agent confirms what applies to your business; your FreeMyCloud accountant keeps the records those decisions rely on.

Local knowledge
| Situation | What it means for the books | How FreeMyCloud handles it |
|---|---|---|
| A Brisbane employer with staff on penalty rates | The Royal Queensland Show holiday (Wednesday 12 August 2026) is a public holiday in the Brisbane area only, so it affects penalty rates for Brisbane staff but does not count as a non-business day for super deadlines. Queensland's Labour Day is in May and the King's Birthday in October (Fair Work, 2026 public holidays). | Public holidays are loaded into your payroll software before the pay run, and the super due date is counted from the ATO's business day rule. |
| A QBCC-licensed builder | Licensees with a maximum revenue above $800,000 (categories 1 to 7) must demonstrate the minimum financial requirements with an MFR report, and most categories lodge annual financial reporting with the QBCC (QBCC, Financial reporting obligations). Individual SC1 and SC2 licensees no longer lodge annual reports. | Month-end close keeps the net tangible assets and current ratio figures current, so the annual report is a read-out, not a scramble. |
| A business approaching $1.3 million in wages | Queensland payroll tax starts at $1.3 million of annual Australian taxable wages at 4.75%, rising to 4.95% above $6.5 million. Grouped businesses share one threshold. | Wages are tracked against the threshold each month so registration and returns happen on time. |
| Staff in both Queensland and New South Wales | Payroll tax is worked out state by state on where the work is done, and each state has its own threshold. | Wages are tagged by state in the payroll file from the first pay run. |
| A business on paper records or counting cash on site | Remote bookkeeping needs scanned receipts and bank feeds. | A receipt-capture app and a weekly scanning routine fix most of it; if not, a local bookkeeper suits better. |
Choosing
| Local bookkeeper or franchise | Dedicated FreeMyCloud accountant | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the work is done | Your premises or their home office in South East Queensland | Our Manila office, inside your cloud accounting file |
| Who does it | One person, often with other clients the same day | The same graduate accountant every day, employed by FreeMyCloud |
| Hours | By arrangement | QLD business hours |
| Cost | Local hourly or package rates | Typically 50 to 70% less than a local equivalent |
| Cover for leave | You arrange it | Arranged by FreeMyCloud |
| Suits | Paper records, cash counts, front desk work, two hours a month | Steady weekly volume in cloud software |
When a local bookkeeper is the better choice. If your records are on paper that never gets scanned, if cash is counted on site, or if you want someone at the front desk, hire locally. Many Brisbane businesses use both: a local person for the physical work and FreeMyCloud for the daily bookkeeping.
Software and security
Your accountant logs in to your own accounting file with a user account you create, at the permission level you choose. You can remove access at any time. Your data stays in your accounting software.
Every engagement starts with a signed non-disclosure agreement. Changes in the file are recorded against the user who made them, so you and your registered agent can see who did what and when.
Manila is on the same time as Perth and two hours behind Brisbane for most of the year, so your accountant is at work when you are.
Whichever platform your Brisbane business already uses.
User permissions set by you, removable by you.
In place before any work begins.
Approvals, payment runs and reporting dates stay as you have set them.
A dedicated FreeMyCloud accountant typically costs 50 to 70% less than a local equivalent. The figure for your business depends on hours and transaction volume, and the cost page sets out how it is worked out.
